Jan Boston
Age 69, of Canal Fulton, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014, in her home. She was born in Wauseon, OH, a daughter of the late Carl and Velma (Given) Russell, grew up in Fayette, OH, and had been a resident of the Canton area many years. Jan was a 1963 graduate of Fayette High School, attended Adrian College in Michigan and graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She also studied towards her Masters Degree at Akron University. Jan taught music and elementary education for Akron City Schools and Lake Local Schools for 30 years. She had been organist at Church of the Lakes, United Methodist since 1989. Jan was a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus for ten years. Survived by her husband, Robert R. Boston, with whom she would have celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 26th; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Terry Olson, and their children, Katy, Emily, twins Monica and Andrea, and Stefanie, of Lewis Center, OH, and Cheryl and Desmond Staple, and their children, Sara, Cloe, twins Desmond, Jr., and Benjamin, of Tampa, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jamie Boston and their children, Shawn and Gabrielle, of Jersey City, NJ. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jan's life will be held Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at 3 p.m. in Church of The Lakes, United Methodist, with Pastor Bryan George officiating. The family will receive friends in the church Activities Center immediately following the service. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium at Church of the Lakes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jan's memory may be made to Greyhound Rescue MYOGGA c/o Wendy Eaton, 3116 Pinevale Ave. NE, Louisville, OH 44641.
