JAMES A. SLOMSKY,

Age 85, of Canton, passed away Tues. Sept. 1, 2015.  Born in Canton, a son of the late Donald and Cora (Sponhour) Slomsky, he had been a life resident of Canton.  James was a 1947 Graduate of Central Catholic High School, served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired in 1992 from Carpenters Local #69 in Canton.  He was a member of American Legion Post #44, Canton Eagles Aerie #141, the former Canton Moose Lodge #233, and an Honorary Member of the Meyers Lake Sportsmen Club.  Preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Slomsky, on Nov. 24, 1993, and two sisters, Delores Strader and Marilyn Glider.  Survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Vincent Slomsky and Donald "Squeak" Slomsky and his fiancée, Lori Bender; and seven grandchildren, Crystal, Shanelle, Vincent, Jr., Steven, Kayle, Donald, Jr., and Daniel, and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Kaleb; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev.
