James D. Leichtamer Age 72, of Magnolia, passed away Thursday evening in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Canton, a son of the late John Paul and Mary "Dena" Maser Leichtamer, and had been a Magnolia resident all his life. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Sandy Valley High School and a 1968 graduate of Malone University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired from Sandy Valley Local Schools after 18 years service, where he was a science teacher. Following his retirement he worked for the Village of Magnolia as Water Treatment Officer for a number of years. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves for 28 years, retiring in Oct. of 1993. Preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Leichtamer, on Sept. 12, 2008. Survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Robert Davis, of Magnolia; his brother John Paul Leichtamer, Jr., of Orange City, FL; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Leichtamer, of Magnolia; and several nieces and nephews. According to Jim's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no calling hours or services. His ashes will be buried in Magnolia Cemetery.
