James D. Leichtamer
Age 72, of Magnolia, passed away Thursday evening in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Canton, a son of the late John Paul and Mary "Dena" Maser Leichtamer, and had been a Magnolia resident all his life. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Sandy Valley High School and a 1968 graduate of Malone University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired from Sandy Valley Local Schools after 18 years service, where he was a science teacher. Following his retirement he worked for the Village of Magnolia as Water Treatment Officer for a number of years. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves for 28 years, retiring in Oct. of 1993. Preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Leichtamer, on Sept. 12, 2008. Survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Robert Davis, of Magnolia; his brother John Paul Leichtamer, Jr., of Orange City, FL; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Leichtamer, of Magnolia; and several nieces and nephews. According to Jim's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no calling hours or services. His ashes will be buried in Magnolia Cemetery. The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.
