James R. Adkins
Age 72, of Magnolia, went to be with his Lord and Savior suddenly Monday afternoon at his home. He was born in Cambridge, OH, a son of the late Estel and Vadah (Secrest) Adkins, and had been a resident of the Waynesburg-Magnolia area most of his life. Jim was a 1958 graduate of Sandy Valley High School, and was an 18 year employee of Shanafelt Mfg. Co, where he was a welder. He was a member of the Little Country Church. A son Brian and a granddaughter, Tiffany Mae, preceded him in death. Survived by his wife, Joan M. Adkins, with whom he would have celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary on August 22nd; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Mutigli, of Waynesburg, Rebecca and Larry George, of Canton, and Amy and Jim Bierworth, of Mineral City; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Lynn Adkins II, of Waynesburg; one sister, Barbara Adkins, of Waynesburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Estel and Joan Adkins, Jr., of Waynesburg, and Ron and Frances Adkins, of Magnolia; 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and one soon to be born great-granddaughter; also numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.in the Little Country Church with Rev. William Carter officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia, and Friday 10-11 a.m. at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to his family.
