Jackie M. Truax

Age 90, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022.  She was born May 4, 1932 in Boswell, PA, a daughter of the late James and Beulah (Thomas) McGuire, and had been an East Sparta resident since 1951.  She was a graduate of Walsh University.  Jackie retired in 1997 from Mercy Medical Center where she was a unit assistant and previously was employed at the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co. where she was a foreman.  She was a member of East Sparta United Methodist Church, and Bolivar Chapter #368.Order of Eastern Star. A member and officer over the past 50 years of the following organizations: the Auxiliary of Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244, East Sparta Women's Club, East Sparta Civic Association, East Sparta Community Building Committee, and the TOPS Club.  Jackie served the Village of East Sparta as Mayor from 2001-2011, and as a member of Village Council from 1997-2001 and 2016-2019.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Finney A. Truax, on Feb.4, 1988, and her long-time companion, Floyd "Frosty" Irwin, on Oct. 22, 2018, three daughters, Betty Avalon, Joyce Scopel, and Carol Malott, a sister Hope McGuire, three brothers, Leland "Bud" McGuire, Dale McGuire, and Ken McGuire.  Jackie is survived by a son-in-law, Randy Kuermerle, three brothers, James McGuire, William "Tom" McGuire, and Larry McGuire, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Peggy Garner officiating.  Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m.  Interment will be in Melscheimer Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
