Jack E. Gruber,

Age 97, of Magnolia, passed away Sun., Dec. 8, 2024.  He was born July 1, 1927, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Howard and Lelia (Swaim) Gruber.  Jack was a 1945 graduate of Waynesburg High School, served with the U.S. Army, and retired from Whitacre Engineering as an Iron Worker.  Preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy Portello and Melissa Merrick, one son, Jim Gruber, one sister, Dorothy Elsass, and four brothers, Fred, Bob, Bill and Donald Gruber.  Survived by two daughters, Kelli Christy (Steven Locke) and Terry Shier; three sons, Kirk (Deena) Gruber, Kraig "Scotty" Gruber, and Billy Portello; nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Kitty.  According to his wishes, a private graveside service will be held in Sandy Valley Cemetery.  The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
