Obituary

HOMER A. DRAHER,

age 90, passed away Mon., Oct. 20, 2014 in the Canton Christian Home after a long illness.  He was born in Minerva, OH, on Oct. 7, 1924, the oldest son of Harold and Gladys (Walter) Draher. Homer's education at Minerva High School was interrupted by service in the U.S. Army where he served with forces in North Africa and in the Allied invasion of France supporting forces which landed in Marseilles and drove to Germany.  Homer met Hilda McNinch at a dance in rural Ohio and they were married on New Year's Eve 1949.  Homer was a 32nd degree Mason and an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir and served as Deacon and Elder.  He and Hilda also enjoyed their service in the Calvary food bank.  Preceded in death by Hilda on August 16th of this year, and his sister, Beverly McDermott, Homer is survived by a daughter, Dixie Hermiller (Jim), a son, Allen Draher (Jennie Wyatt) and three granddaughters, Gracious, Siena Marie and Evelyn.  Homer is also survived by a sister Janet Webster and a brother Denzel.  Homer was a kind, responsible and generous man who loved the people of North East Ohio and the flowers he grew there.  Services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Canton Christian Home with Chaplain Ron Iwanusa officiating.  Interment in North Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call from 10:30-11 a.m. in the Chapel.  The Formet-Clevenger and Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
