Obituary

Helen E. Grant Age 92, of Canton, passed away Monday morning, March 26, 2012, in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Ralston and Carrie (Snyder) Palm, and was a life resident. Helen was the last known survivor of the original letter writers to B. Virdot, who placed an ad in The Repository only days before Christmas in 1933, and offered to help those in need. A gathering was held in November 2010 at the Palace Theatre to commemorate the Depression-era generosity of this man, and Helen was able to attend as the guest of honor. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Grant, and one sister and one brother, Bernice Cusack and Richard Palm. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Anthony Rogers, of Magnolia, and Judy and Dick Manley, of North Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Jean Kintz, of McConnelsville, OH, and David and Jean Kintz, of Canton; also 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
