Hazel I. Gruber

Age 95, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017.  She was born Jan. 24, 1922 in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Delo and Pearl (Ickes) Lewton, and was a life resident.  Hazel had served as Clerk for the Village of Waynesburg for many years and also Clerk for Quad Ambulance.  She had enjoyed working at Cibo's Restaurant in Waynesburg for over 20 years.  Hazel was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg, which she served as treasurer for many years, and also was a member of the Auxiliary of Sandy Valley American Legion Post #432.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Gruber, on July 7, 1987, two brothers and one sister, Jack and Kenneth Lewton, and Arlene Tirabassi.  She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marsha McDonald, and Barbara and James Marraccini; one son, John Gruber; a daughter-in-law, Diane Pastori and her husband, Chuck; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gruber Elsass, and Sarah Nardo Gruber; and a brother-in-law, Jack (Carol) Gruber.  Services will be held Sat. at 12 Noon in First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg with Pastor Joseph Svancara officiating.  Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Sat. from 10-12 before the service.  The family wishes to express their appreciation to her care-giver, Genie Bath, for the love and care she gave to Hazel, and to her faithful church friends, Pam and Jim Darden, who visited her every Sunday after church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hazel's memory may be made to the Helping Hands Network, 126 S.
