Hal W. Streit Age 87, of Canton, passed away Thursday evening in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Canton and was a life resident. Hal was a 1939 graduate of Lehman High School. He retired in June of 1985 as owner of Meier Floor Covering, which he operated for 40 years. Following his retirement he became Financial Advisor for the Academy Pre-School, which was owned by his wife. Hal was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, which he served as both Elder and Deacon, as well as serving on various committees. He served in the U.S. Marine Air Corps during World War II. Survived by his wife, Jean M. Streit, with whom he would have celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on June 21st; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Celia Streit, of Hailey, ID, and Larry and Julie Streit, of Ocoee, FL; four grandchildren, Jason Streit and his wife, Shelley, Monica Combs and her husband, Jason, Tori Streit, and Sarah Streit Smith; also six great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Wed. at 2 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor C. David Morgan officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Wed. 1-2 p.m. before the service.
