Grace M. Brown
Age 88, of Jamestown, Pa.,formerly of East Sparta, passed away on Oct. 15, 2014. Grace was born in Sandyville on Jan. 11, 1926, to Ira and Ada (Mayrose) Farber. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lee D. Brown, in 2002, two sisters, Esther Howenstine and Bernice Farber, and one brother, William Farber. Grace is survived by her seven children: Lee D. Brown II (Janet) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Alexa Dazey of Dover, Kathie Hutchison (Tim) of Jamestown, Pa., Judy Greene of Independence, Ohio, Joyce Brown of Jamestown, Pa., Randall Brown (Linda) of East Sparta and Ronald Brown (Sharon) of Dayton; 12 grandchildren: Michelle, Kevin, Terry, Erin, Laura, Stephanie, Kelly, Theresa, Ryan, Derek, Jason, and Alyssa; and 13 great-grandchildren: Amber, Zoe, Ralph, Fisher, August, Kevin, Veronica, Caitlyn, Brianna, Charlotte, Tabitha, Gwendolyn and Jensen. Grace was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Canton Mothers of Twins Club (now known as Canton Mothers of Multiples Club), and was Mother of the Year twice in 1953 and again in 1982, the Auxiliary of Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta and The East Sparta Women's Club. After receiving her Nursing Diploma from Aultman Hospital School of Nursing, Grace had worked several years at Aultman Hospital. Grace married Lee Brown on June 7, 1947 and started their family. She was blessed with two sets of twins and had seven children in five years. Grace enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and vacationing in Daytona Beach and in Myrtle Beach, where she especially enjoyed walking the beach. Grace was very active in the East Sparta community, volunteering to prepare meals at the East Sparta Community Building, and working in the "eat stand" during the East Sparta Homecomings. She was also honored as the East Sparta Citizen of the Year in 2002. Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Patrick officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday two hours before the service, from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 4796 Cross Roads Rd.
