Gladys R. Neuman Age 98, of East Sparta, passed away Wed. afternoon, Dec. 21, 2011, in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. She was born in Navarre, a daughter of the late Seba and Katherine Kaiser Hoverland, and had been an East Sparta resident since 1934. Gladys was a 1930 graduate of Bolivar High School where she was the Salutatorian, and her roommate at Hennis was Ethel Duerr, and they were the last surviving members of that class. Gladys had assisted her late husband on the family farm for many years. Preceded in death by her husband, Morris E. Neuman, on Nov. 19, 1977, three brothers and one sister, Raymond, Harold, and Russell Hoverland, and Hazel Butker, and a grandson, Shawn Alderman. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Joel Alderman, of Berkley, MI; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Bev Neuman, of East Sparta, and Edward "Bud" Neuman, of Bolivar; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in East Sparta Christian Church with Pastor Andrew Bailey and Pastor Terry Baltzer officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Tuesday 10-11 a.m. at the church.
