IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geraldine D.
"Gerry" Connor
September 18, 1919 – September 24, 2024
Geraldine "Gerry" D. Connor
age 105, of Canton, left this earthly home on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 to join her many family members and friends in her new heavenly home. Gerry was born on September 18, 1919, in Canton, OH to Oliver and Carrie (Schlagel) Stonebrook. She was a 1937 graduate of McKinley High School. Gerry married Estel C. "Joe" Connor on July 28, 1945. They shared 45 years of marriage until his passing on June 21, 1990. Gerry worked at the Climalene Company in her younger years, and later retired in July of 1980 after 19 years as secretary at Belle Stone School.
Gerry enjoyed traveling, especially to Hilton Head with her family, playing bridge, shopping and walking at the mall, and keeping in touch with her family and friends, both by phone and at "lunch bunch". She was a very active member of St. Paul's UM Church for 66 years, and more recently belonged to the Church of the Lakes. After Joe died, Gerry spent many hours working in her garden and mowing the lawn, well into her eighties. She was a member of the Canton Garden Club and former Suburban Garden Club.
In addition to her parents, and her husband Joe, she was preceded in death by five sisters and their spouses, Madeline (Harold) Brown, Gertrude (Rev. Lawrence) Crawford, Lillian (Donald) Aubill, Mildred (Ray) Salberg, and Pauline (Paul) Snyder; and three brothers, Dale Stonebrook, Herb (Pam) Stonebrook, and Max (Lillian) Stonebrook. What a joyous reunion!
She is survived by one son, Gary (Judy) Connor of Venice, FL, one daughter, Nancy (Paul) Long of Waynesburg, two granddaughters, Carrie & James May, and Cristin Connor & Jason Kelly, two great-granddaughters, Madeline, and Abigale May, two step-grandchildren, Ryan Long, and Amanda (Tim) Piatt, and five step-great grandchildren, Jonathan and Michael Long, and Bailey, Zoey, and Calley Piatt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Sat., October 12, 2024 at Church of the Lakes with Rev. Nancy Conley officiating. Friends may call Fri., October 11, 2024 at Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m. and Sat. from 8-9:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
