Gerald E. "Mick" McWilliams

age 84 of East Sparta, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021.  He was born Nov. 7, 1936 in Canton, a son of the late Willis and Marjorie (Winkleman) McWilliams, and had been an East Sparta resident all his life.  Mick was a 1954 graduate of East Sparta High School where he played basketball, football, baseball and ran track.  He retired in 1998 from Timken Research after 32 years' service in the shipping-receiving department.  He also had farmed for many years with his friend, Charley Reed.  He and his wife were members of East Sparta Christian Church and Mick had served in the U. S. Army.

Mick is survived by his wife JoAnn (Farber) McWilliams, with whom he celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on April 2nd, three daughters, Pam Hansen, Chris (David) Render, and Amy (Mark) Leichtamer, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Brett (Amanda) McWilliams, and their son, Grant, Ryan (Katie) Hansen, and their daughter, Harper, Megan  (Brandon) Parks, Joshua Render, Natalie Render, and Logan Leichtamer .

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Brother Tim Carlson officiating.  Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m.  Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mick's memory may be made to East Sparta Christian Church, PO Box 476, East Sparta, OH 44626.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
