George V. Sowers Age 63, of Zoarville, passed away Friday evening in Union Hospital. He was born in Dover, a son of the late James W. Sowers, Sr. and Alice Grafton Pisony, and had been a Zoarville resident most of his life. George retired in Jan. of 2008 from Blue Jay Industries, after 25 years service, where he was a heavy equipment operator, and he previously worked 17 years for Fairfield Brick Co. Following his retirement he enjoyed working with his son at J & D Mining for four months. Preceded in death by an infant sister, Sandra Kay Sowers. Survived by his wife, Kay Sowers, with whom he celebrated their 43rd Wedding anniversary on Nov. 19, 2008; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Tonia Sowers, of Zoarville; four grandchildren, Michaela, Mackenzie, Whitney, and Quentin Sowers; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Linda Sowers, Jr., of Mineral City. Services will be conducted Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Peter Price officiating. Interment in German Cemetery.
