Obituary

GEORGE B. HAYES, JR., Age 96, of Wooster, formerly of North Canton, passed away Sun. evening in Rose Lane Health Care. Born in St. Clairsville, a son of the late George and Kathryn (Hoernig) Hayes, Sr., he had been a resident of the Massillon and North Canton area for many years. George was a 1934 graduate of McKinley High School and retired from the Timken Co. after over 25 years service where he was an accountant. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Martha Hayes, on May 23, 1992, and two brothers and a sister, Bob and Jim Hayes and Betty Myers. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and John "Bud" Bednar, of Wooster; two grandsons and six great grandchildren, Dustin and Kim Hostetler and their children, Austin, Taylor, and Blake, of Wooster, and Jason and Sarah Hostetler, and their children, Logan, Reese, and Ella, of Grove City, OH; two sisters, Virginia Clark, of Massillon, and Ann Hustis, of Canton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Mary Louise Hayes, of Canton, and Frank and Carol Hayes, of Massillon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ Presbyterian Church with Pastor David de Vries officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service, from 3-4 p.m. in the church parlor.
