Obituary

GEORGE "BILL" BOYD, Age 88, of Dover, passed away Tues. morning in Union Hospital. Born in East Sparta, a son of the late Earl and Camilla Miller Boyd, he had previously resided in Magnolia, Sandyville and Adena. Bill retired from Console Coal Co. at Martins Ferry where he was a heavy equipment operator. Following retirement he worked for Ohio Mining for several years until he retired again. Bill served with the Army Air Corps during WW II and was a member of Carr-Bailey American Legion Post #519 in Mineral City. He bowled in the 1960's in a Mineral City League and enjoyed fishing. Preceded in death by his first wife Pauline Boyd on Jan. 30th, 1990, and two brothers and two sisters, Myrl and Samuel Boyd, Mildred Beamer and Joyce Newell. Survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Boyd; five step-sons, Larry (Joyce) Viegel, of Grove Port, OH, William (Karen) Murphy, of Stone Creek, OH, Richard(Charlene) Murphy, of Granville, OH, Ronald (Christina) Murphy, of Columbus, and Thomas (Laurie Gintz) Murphy, of Dover; one sister, Mary (James) DeAngelo, of Newton Falls, OH; three brothers, Henry (Fern) Boyd, of Harrisburg, OR, Paul (Linda) Boyd and John (Frances) Boyd, all of Mineral City; one step-sister, Phyllis (Richard) Fisher, of Dover; 11 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted Thur. at 2 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Mark Gross officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery.
