GENE D. JOHNSON, SR.,

Age 80, of Magnolia, passed away Sat., Jan 7, 2017.  Born in Waverly, OH, a son of the late Lloyd and Lucy (Claytor) Johnson, he had been a Magnolia resident for many years.  Gene owned and operated Gene's Crossroads Market until 2014.  He enjoyed gardening and had many friends in the community and was always willing to help out anyone in need.  Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Johnson; his son, Gene Johnson, Jr.; his grandson, Ivan Johnson; one sister, Pauline Lawson; and three brothers, Harry, Gerald and Paul Johnson.  Survived by his daughter-in-law, Barbara Johnson; two sisters, Pat Poling and Mary Miner; his companion and best friend, Mary Davis; and one grandchild and four great grandchildren.  According to his wishes there will be no services.  The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
