Gene D. Schlimm,
Age 92, of East Sparta, passed away Sat., Aug. 2, 2025. He was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Canton, a son of the late George and Thelma (Hill) Schlimm. Gene served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Timken Co. after 38 years service where he was a roll grinder. He was a member of the Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244. Gene loved farming, gardening, Cleveland Sports and in his younger days loved going to Canada fishing. Preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Keeney, Mary Winn and Carol Watson, and three brothers, Ronald, Richard and Jack Schlimm. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Norma (Wilson) Schlimm; three daughters, Margaret (David) Reader, Michele (Kelly) Benson, and Melissa (John) Bihari; one son, Rickie (Sue) Schlimm; eight grandchildren, Chad (Julie) Schlimm, Dustin Schlimm, Zachary (Tara) Schlimm, Shannon (Chad) Reader Smalley, Riley Benson, Colin Benson, Michael Bihari, and Kyle Bihari; and seven great grandchildren. Services will be held Thur. at 1pm in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call two hours before the service, from 11am to 1pm, in the funeral home.
