GARY L. PONTONES,

Age 62, of Magnolia, passed away peacefully on Oct.16, 2014, after a courageous battle against lung cancer.  Born in Canton, a son of Art and Barb Pontones, of Waynesburg, he had been a life resident of the Waynesburg/Magnolia area.  Gary was a former member of the Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Department.  As an avid outdoorsman, Gary loved to hunt; a passion that he shared with his wife and son.  Gary was well known for his roasts; a hobby he began in the 1970s.  He roasted beef, pork, turkeys, etc. for many parties, weddings, and other celebrations. He also cooked for the annual hog roast at the Nightclub. Preceded in death by his brother, Tim Pontones, in 1988.  Survived by his wife of 35 years, Chris (Roman) Pontones; a daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Bill Weaver, of Canton; and a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Casey Pontones II, of Magnolia; one sister, Patty Pontones, of Waynesburg; and one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Kathy Pontones, of Waynesburg; four nieces and four nephews; and a large extended family.  Friends may call Sun. from 5-8 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  According to his wishes, following cremation, there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Dept.
