Obituary

Gary Meininger  1950-2021

Born on Feb.10. 1950, a life resident of East Sparta.  He passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 5, 2021, after a 2 1/2 year battle with lung cancer.  He is the oldest of six children of the late Harold "Butch" and Donna (Gallion) Meininger.  Gary was a 1969 graduate of Sandy Valley High School and was a baptized believer of our Lord's church.  Gary is survived and blessed by his faithful and loving wife, Carol (Hendershot) Meininger, with whom he would have celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary on June 15th.  He loved and made many special memories fishing with his two loving sons, Travis Meininger and his first granddaughter, Kylie, and Adam (Diana) Meininger, and their children, Nolan, Anna, and Sofia.  His love for his grandchildren was one of the most important things in his life.  He will be greatly missed by his dog, Hank.  He is also survived by special aunts, Hope McDade and Marie Diss, his little brothers, Bruce (Margie) Meininger and Brad Meininger, special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck & Judy McNutt, Merv & Jean Hendershot, Carl & Tinia Hendershot, Jim Hendershot, Shirley Hendershot, and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Gary's wishes were to be cremated with a private family memorial service at a later date.  The family wishes to thank the special friends, neighbors, family and the Tuscarawas County Hospice Team for helping prepare Gary for his journey home.  Memorial donations in Gary's memory may be made to the East Sparta Church of Christ, 7901 Cleveland Ave. SE, Magnolia, OH 44643.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
