Obituary

Frank S. Kerekes

Age 91, of Massillon, passed away Wed, August 13, 2014, in Meadow Wind Health Care Center.  He was born in Magnolia, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Harsha) Kerekes, resided in Massillon since 2006, previously Magnolia all his life.  After leaving high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for a couple years.  Frank served in the U. S. Army from 1943-45 during World War II.  Just before shipping out to England, he met his future wife, Ruth, at a dance club in New York City.  Frank led an exciting and varied life, retiring from the Village of Magnolia in 1980, after 10 years service, as head of the Water Dept.  Previously he worked for Loomis Coal Co. and All States Oil Co. among several different occupations.  Frank was a member of Massillon American Legion Post #221.  Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth S. Kerekes, on Oct. 7, 2006.  Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Smith of North Lawrence; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Teresa Kerekes, of North Canton, and Jeff and Kathie Kerekes, of Massillon; one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Bill Roberts, of Canton; six grandsons, and five great-grandchildren.  A Private Service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Rufus Hofelt officiating.  Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville with Military Honors.  There will be no calling hours.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfunerlhomes.com
