Frances L. Bernhardt

Age 96, of Canton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.  She was born Oct. 15, 1924 in Canton, a daughter of the late Dr. Raymond and Angela (Kobach) Thompson, and was a life resident.  Frances was a 1942 graduate of McKinley High School and also a graduate of Muskingum College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition.  She was a retired Registered Dietician, having worked at Aultman and Mercy Hospitals as well as local nursing homes.  She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church which she served as an Elder, the American Dietetic Association, and the Ohio and Stark County Dietetic Associations, a former member of the Hoe & Hope Garden Club and the North Canton Lady Elks Lodge #2029.  Frances also helped on the Hunger Task Force.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Harold J. Bernhardt, on Oct. 2, 2016.  She is survived by a daughter and son, Diane and Larry Mihalik and Jeffrey and Gayle Bernhardt, six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, Collin (Thomas Posanti) Mihalik, Jordan Mihalik, Cameron (Joanna) Bernhardt, and children, Arianna and Nathan, Brayton Bernhardt, Kari (Mike) Lumen and their daughter, Summer, and Dylan Kimberly, a brother, Raymond Thompson, Jr., three nieces and one nephew, Nan (Paul) Trenta, Kari (Gary) Brush, Tricia (Mark) Lori, and Rick (Chrissy) Thompson.  Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating.  Friends may call Thursday 10-11 a.m. before the service.
