Fanchon C. Woods Age 92, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly at her home Sat. morning. She was born in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of the late Walter and Caroline Minch Mowry, and came to Canton at the age of six months. Fanchon was a 1935 graduate of McKinley High School. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, the Forever Young group, and the Dorcas Circle of the church. During her life she was active in the A.A.R.P. and also the American Red Cross during World War II. She had served as both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for her children's troups. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Larry Staats. Survived by her husband, Kenneth C. Woods, with whom she would have celebrated their 74th Wedding Anniversary on June 10th of this year; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bill Staats, and a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Rosanne Woods, all of Canton; seven grandchildren, Susan (Michael) Cammel, of Canton, Robert (Lesley) Woods, of Hamilton, OH, Kevin Woods, of Cleveland, Kathleen (Jeremy) McIntyre, of Lexington, KY, John Woods, of Canton, Guy (Serena) Staats, of Atlanta, GA, and Douglas Staats, of Canton; a granddaughter-in-law, Heather Staats, of Navarre; and she will be greatly missed by her 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor C. David Morgan officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
