Evelyn L. (Skelley) Stuart
Age 96, of Annapolis, MD for the last five years, and previously a Canton resident for 91 years, passed away Sat. morning. She was born July 26, 1913 in Canton, a daughter of the late Ralph McKinley and Ora Snider Skelley. Evelyn was a 1931 graduate of McKinley High School and a 1934 graduate of the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Public Health Nurse for the Canton City Health Dept., as a Staff Nurse at Aultman Hospital, and retired in 1985 as a Visiting Nurse for the Visiting Nurse Society of Central Stark County. Evelyn was a member of Emmanuel Christian Church, the Aultman Hospital Nursing Alumni Association, the American Red Cross, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). She enjoyed bowling, crewel embroidery, poker clubs, luncheons with her many friends, and most of all visiting with her family. She also was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and never missed watching the games on TV or attending games at Jacobs (Progressive) Field. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Stuart, on Sept. 24, 1974, her son, William G. Stuart, D.D.S., on June 26, 1990, a brother, Vincent Shelley, and a great-grandson, Matthew Miller. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ronald Miller, of Annapolis, MD; her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph "Stu" and Joy Stuart, of Winter Garden, FL; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Stuart, of Canton; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance by her family will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Interment in Warstler Cemetery.
