Evelyn L. Gearhart
Age 93, formerly of Dellroy, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at her daughter's home in Sebring, FL. She was born in Cambridge, OH, a daughter of the late Vernon and Audrey (Bennett) Hockenberry, had been a Dellroy resident since 2000, previously East Canton many years, and Sebring since 2014. Evelyn was a 1942 graduate of Canton South High School. She retired in 1988 from Canton Casting, after 25 years' service, where she was an office worker. She was a member of Christ Community Church in Dellroy and a former long-time member of Indian Run Christian Church, where she had been active in Outreach ministry and loved doing things for people. Evelyn was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone, and her family and friends meant everything to her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Charles P. Gearhart, an infant son, Charles, a daughter, Jane Belew, two brothers, Russell and Charles Hockenberry, and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Gearhart. She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Larry) Andrews, with whom she resided in Sebring, FL; her son Ralph "Bud" (Terrie) Gearhart, of Perry Heights; one son-in-law, Brad Belew, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Marjorie (George) Gortney, of Canton, and Thelma (Rev. George) Stitz, of Canal Fulton; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Hockenberry, of Arley, AL. A Celebration of Evelyn's Life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bill Newell officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Canton. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 10-11 a.m. before the service. Evelyn was a special beloved lady, and her family is rejoicing she is home with the Lord.
