Eva Medved
Age 88, of North Canton, passed away Sat. in her home. She was born in Cadiz, OH, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucia Truly Medved, resided in the Dellroy/Carrollton area until she went to College, and has lived in Canton since 1987. Eva was a 1939 graduate of Dellroy High School, and a 1943 graduate of Kent State University with a Degree in Home Economics and Education. She received her Masters Degree from Ohio State in 1952 and her Doctorate in Nutrition from Ohio State in 1963. Eva started teaching at Magnolia High School in 1943 for two years, then Alliance High School two years, Canton Lincoln High School 15 years, and then the main campus of Kent State where she taught from 1964 to 1990, at which time she retired. Following her retirement, she helped with a project in the Nutrition Dept. at the University of Arizona. Her long association with Home Economics and Nutrition led her to include the "Betty Lamp" on her tombstone. Eva was the author of "The World of Food" published in 1970 and revised numerous times, the last of which was in 2006. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges, the American, Ohio, and Stark County Associations of Family and Consumer Services, and the American, Ohio, and Stark County Dietetic Associations. Preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Medved in Jan. 2006, and John Medved in Nov. 2006. Survived by one sister, Mildred Sal, of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mary Ellen Medved, of Baltimore, MD; three nieces and a nephew, Jane and Doug Howard, of Placitas, NM, Judy and Fernando Medved-Gonzales, of Sparks, NV, Jean and Gary Krupinsky, of Tampa, FL, and Joseph and Andrea Medved, of Baltimore, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges with Fr. Anthony Batt as Celebrant. Interment in St. Mary's Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.
