Emma M. Bednar
Age 90, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday morning in the Laurels of Massillon. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Anton and Emma Ries Diekmann, and had been a resident of North Canton 17 years, previously residing in the Minerva area many years. Emma was a 1936 graduate of McKinley High School. She retired in 1983 from Timken Mercy Hospital, after over 30 years service, where she was a Nurses Aide in the Maternity Dept., and also was a floor secretary. Emma was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in North Canton. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Bednar, on May 26, 1991, and all of her three brothers and three sisters. Survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John "Bud" and Cindy Bednar, of Grove City, Jeffrey and Amy Bednar, of Baltimore, OH, and James and Chris Bednar, of North Canton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Julie Ross, John and Karen Bednar, Jodi and Tom Flory, Dustin and Kim Hostetler, Jason and Sarah Hostetler, James Bednar, Jr., Jason and Suzy Bednar, Nathaniel and Heather Bednar, and Phillip Bednar; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor David Warren officiating. Entombment in North Lawn Mausoleum. Friends may call Thursday 5-7 p.m. and Friday one hour before the services.
