Elizabeth E. Geers Age 85, of Canton, passed away Sunday afternoon in Aultman Hospital. She was born in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Sponseller) Baum, and had been a Canton resident since 1966. Elizabeth was a 1945 graduate of Waynesburg High School. She was retired from Teamsters Local #92, where she ran the Insurance Dept. Previously she worked at the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta. Elizabeth was a member of First Evangelical Congregational Church in Canton, the Teamsters Retirees Club, and the Waynesburg High School Alumni Club. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold J. Geers, on Dec. 10, 2005, a son and daughter, James Gruber and Melissa Gruber Merrick, two brothers and two sisters. Survived by her daughter, Susan Huenergardt, of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Marsha Geers, of Findlay, OH; a daughter-in-law, Madelyn Gruber, of North Canton; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, John Huenergardt, Jeff Gruber and his daughter, Olivia, Kristen Gruber and her sons, Cody and Joseph, Joseph Merrick and his wife, Tracy, and their daughters, Sara and Jessica, Joshua Merrick and his wife, Sara and their daughter, Charlotte, and his children, MaKell, Korbin, and Allyssa; and her beloved cat, Pumpkin Pie. According to Elizabeth's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of Bethany Nursing Home, who welcomed her into their home and showed her so much love and care during her stay.
