Eleanor L. McKee

Age 99, of Canton, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 29, 2024, after spending a wonderful day with her family.  She was born December 29, 1924 in Salem, OH, a daughter of the late Roy and Libby (Redman) Slagle, and had been a Canton resident since 1942.  Eleanor was a 1942 graduate of Goshen High School in Damascus, OH.  She retired from The Hoover Co. in 1988 after 14 years and then worked at Kauffman's for 10 years.  When she and her husband first got married, they owned and operated a grocery store in Augusta, OH, then they operated an entertainment business for several years, and then operated a roller skating rink at the Stark County Fair Grounds for several years, and then operated C-M Agency in the First National Bank.  Eleanor was a member of the North Canton Elks #2029, North Canton Eagles #6979, the Elks, several card clubs playing Euchre, Bridge, Poker, and 500.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ed B. McKee, on May 2, 1993, and her sister, Doris White, on April 3, 2010.  Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son, Nancy Detwiler and Edward L. McKee; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Kimberly and David Parker and their children, Chad and Haley, Doug and Leigh Detwiler, and their sons, Colton and Daniel; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Grace McKee; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev.
