Eleanor M. Getz
Age 92, Magnolia, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015, in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. She was born in Aultman, OH, a daughter of the late Rev. Mervin and Dorothy (Lesh) Hershberger, resided in North Canton and Canton South most of her life, and Magnolia since 2012. Eleanor was a 1941 graduate of Greentown High School. She was a retired Hoover Co. employee, where she was a line worker during World War II. Eleanor was the last charter member of Canton South Church of the Nazarene, where her father was founder and Pastor. She also was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William D. Getz, on Nov. 25, 1999, a daughter, Brenda Pfanstiel and two brothers, Paul and Ralph Hershberger. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and John Norris, Magnolia; her son, Dan Getz, of Newport News, VA; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Josie Norris and their children, Morgan, Megan, and Johnny, Cheryl Baal and her son, Mikey, David Wise and his son, Nicholas, Adam Getz, Kevin and Elizabeth Pfanstiel and their sons, Andy, Jimmy, Jonathan, and Mark, Sarah and David Pearson, and their sons, Nathan and Jason, and Julie Pfanstiel; one sister, Janice Covert, of Canton; brother-in-law, Arthur Getz, of Palm Desert, CA, and her former son-in-law, Roger (Dawn) Pfanstiel, Crossville, TN. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Wayne Cummings officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eleanor's memory may be made to Canton South Church of the Nazarene, 112 Mill St. SW, Canton, OH 44707, or Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
