IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eileen R.
Jones
March 12, 2025 – March 17, 2025
Eileen R. Jones,
Age 96, of North Canton, passed away Mon., Mar. 17, 2025. She was born Mar. 12, 1929, in East Canton, a daughter of the late James and Ruth (Williams) Rhodes. Eileen was a 1947 graduate of North Canton High School and was a member of the former Calvary Presbyterian Church. Eileen enjoyed cats, reading her Bible and Christian fiction, coloring, shopping, coffee, flowers, and watching the news. She was an avid sports fan and loved trips to the beach. She was an excellent cook but joked that making reservations was her favorite meal. Most of all, Eileen loved being home with her family. She was a devoted wife, marrying the love of her life, Jay Jones, on May 19th, 1948. They shared 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. Always laughing and teasing each other, they had a strong and happy marriage. Eileen was a kind, generous and loving mom and grandmother. She spent countless hours playing with her grandchildren and was a dedicated great-grandmother, providing them with cherished memories to last a lifetime.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jay Jones, three brothers, James Rhodes, Wilbur Rhodes, and Larry Zook, and her grandson-in-law, Christopher Peters. Survived by two daughters, Karen (Ron) Duplain and Nancy (Brent) Bircher; two grandchildren, Monica Peters, and Jay Poparad; three great-grandchildren, Max, Mason and Elliott Peters; two sisters, Zelda Miller and Betty Thurman; three brothers, Grant (Carol) Rhodes, Clyde Rhodes, and Jerry (Barbara) Zook; three sisters-in-law, Judy Rhodes, Lois Rhodes, and Janet Zook; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to Eileen's life-long friend, Fran Cox, as well as Karen Minor, who helped take care of Eileen in her last days.
