Obituary

Edward O. Swihart Age 71, of Waynesburg, passed away Wed. morning in Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Russell and Mary Jane (Locker) Swihart, and was a life resident of the Magnolia/Waynesburg area. Ed was a 1960 graduate of Sandy Valley High School. He retired in 2007 from PCC Airfoils in Minerva after 15 years service, and previously worked 10 years for Ohio Power Co. and 10 years for Hercules Engines. Ed was a member of the Fellowship of the Little Country Church, Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, Sandy Valley American Legion Post #432, and the Sandy Valley Eagles where he enjoyed playing euchre. He loved to travel and visited many countries while in the service and afterward. Ed served in the U. S. Air Force during the Viet Nam War, stationed in England. One of his favorite experiences was the opportunity to drive Chevy Nascar #29 at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte for 18 laps and reaching 140 mph. He also was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Margaret Contrucci and Charles Swihart. Survived by his wife, Carmen L. Swihart, with whom he celebrated their 39th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 2nd; two daughters, Jenna Swihart, of North Canton, and Fiona Grayson, of Seattle, WA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Oliver Jason Swihart, of Columbus, OH, and Justin Edward & Yeonhee Swihart, with the U. S. Air Force, stationed at Osan Air Force Base in South Korea; a grandson, Conner McVey; and a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Bob Taylor, of Magnolia. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor William Carter officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery with full Military Honors.
