Edna F. Maple

Age 92, of East Sparta, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, in her daughter Barbara's home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Bernard and Lela (Penick) Volkert, resided in Waynesburg until 1981, Leesburg, FL until 2000, then Bolivar and East Sparta.  Edna was a 1941 graduate of Waynesburg High School.  She had been a salesperson at the former Parisian in Canton and then was a salesperson at Home Hardware and Ben Franklin in Florida.  She had attended Centenary United Methodist Church.  Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Glenn J. Maple, on June 13, 1992, a grandson, David Cantwell in 2012, and two brothers, Donald and Richard Volkert.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Stan Wheeler, of Sandyville, and Lou Ann and Tom Tschantz, of Somerdale, and three sons and a daughter-in-law, Keith Maple, of Ashtabula, James and Karen Maple, of Waynesburg, and Stephen Maple, of East Sparta; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and a soon to be born great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Evelyn Beazel, of Waynesburg.  Services will be held Sat. at 1 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Cameron Ury officiating.  Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call Sat. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edna's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
