Edith B. Boyd Age 92, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday evening in Emeritus of Canton. She was born in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William and Ollie (Brothers) Neiss, and resided in East Sparta most of her life. Edith was a 1938 graduate of East Sparta High School. She had assisted her husband in operating East Sparta Recreation for many years, and also gave piano lessons in her home for years. Edith was a member of East Sparta United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for many years, and the Auxiliary of Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Melvin L. Boyd, on Feb. 14, 2004, and a son, Thomas Boyd, on April 29, 1993. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dale Garris, of Concord Township, OH; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Anne Boyd, of Magnolia, and Jeffrey Boyd, of Honolulu, HI; one sister, Alice Reed, of East Palestine, OH; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, David Boyd, Jr. and his wife, Barbara and their children, Michael and Erika, Carri Meek and her husband, James, and their children, Natalie, Tyler, and Camryn, and Travis Boyd and his wife, Nicole, and their children, Rebecca and Jackson. Services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Peggy Garner officiating. Interment in East Sparta Cemetery.
