Earl S. Deem, Jr,
Age 87, of Massillon, passed away suddenly Wed., Sept. 14, 2011, in his home. He was born in Belpre, OH, a son of the late Earl S. and Naomi Hemsworth Deem, Sr., resided in the Waynesburg area over 50 years, and Massillon since Oct. of 2008. Earl was a 1942 graduate of Tanner High School in Burnhouse, WV. He retired in 1956 from the Stark County Sheriff's Office, after 30 years service as a Deputy Dog Warden. Earl was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and the McKinley Eagles #2370. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy M. Deem, on Nov. 22, 2006, and four sisters, Noretta Everett, Frances Exsmith, Margaret King, and Betty Ebner. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Diana Fankhauser, of Atwater, OH, and Linda and Ron Snyder, of Akron; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Vicki Deem, of Marion, OH, and Larry and Jane Deem, of East Sparta; and his very dear friend, Adair Locker; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Deem, of Queen's Valley, AZ, and William and Vee Deem, of Canton; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in Grace Fellowship Church with Rev. Keith Stephens officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery in Waynesburg. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home, and Monday 10-11 a.m. at the church before the service.
