IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Mae
Schiefer
July 13, 1929 – January 14, 2023
Dorothy Mae Schiefer
on Saturday, January 14, 2023, Dorothy Mae Schiefer, loving wife and mother, passed away at age 93. She was the oldest of four children born to John and May (Spurrier) Baldy.
Dorothy graduated from Holmes Liberty High School and soon after became a flight attendant for American Airlines based in Dallas, TX. Dorothy married Lyle Schiefer in 1951 and were constant companions until Lyle's passing in 2015. Dorothy loved life. Her time spent with family and friends was something she cherished. She and Lyle loved sailing and moved from Canton to Atwood Lake where they built a retirement home and enjoyed all the pleasures lake life can bring. Whether they were entertaining in their home, going to Atwood Lake Yacht Club, or heading out on the pontoon with family or friends, they enjoyed time with everyone they met.
Dorothy worked most recently as a Mary Kay Director and was very successful in that role. She won numerous company awards and even sported a pink Cadillac for many years.
Her children were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with them and their families. She shared her love for gardening, baking, and lake life with them as often as possible.
Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Malvern.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lyle Schiefer and sister Betty. She is survived by her three children, Mark (Nancy) Schiefer, Greg Schiefer, and Doug (Amy) Schiefer; four grandchildren, Ashley (Rick Cummings) Schiefer, Michael Schiefer, Lauren (Eddie) Switzer, and Christopher Schiefer; also survived by one sister, Ginny Damman, and one brother, Jack (Vickie) Baldy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Schiefer family wishes to thank her caregivers at the Canton Regency for their care and support over the last several years, in addition to Crossroads Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Victor Cinson as Celebrant. Friends may call Thursday 10-11 a.m. at the church before the Mass. Interment will be in St. Francis Church Cemetery.
