DOROTHY A. "DORRIE" HOPPES,

age 79, of Canton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Born Dec. 4, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Adah (Williams) Alston. A graduate of Aspenwall High School, class of 59, she later earned her Bachelor's in Nursing at the Case Western Reserve Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing (1964). She worked as a nurse at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH, and later as the office manager for her husband, Dr William L. Hoppes. She was a very warm, generous and loving person with lots of friends and a sharp sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid tennis player, golfer and skier. She is survived by her husband, Dr. William Hoppes, and her children, Preston Hoppes, James Hoppes, and Dr. Margaret Kessler. She also was a loving grandmother to her two granddaughters, Adah and Matilda Hoppes. No services are planned at this time, but the family will hold a Celebration of Life around what would have been her 80th birthday, in early December.
