Doris J. Girard
Age 87, of Magnolia, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. She was born in Akron, a daughter of the late Levon and Eva (Cline) Drumm, and had been a resident of the Magnolia area 33 years. She and her husband spent winters in Crystal River, FL for 15 years, and previously resided in North Miami Beach early in their married life. Doris was a faithful member of Magnolia United Methodist Church and also a member of the Sandy Valley Senior Citizens. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and was an excellent cook and baker. She was very family oriented and loved to host and attend family reunions, and especially liked to go to the Cline Family Reunion in Greenbrier, OH. Doris loved to play 500 and she and her sister-in-law, Clara, usually defeated their husbands. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Donald Drumm, Ethel Jones, and Madeline Schneider, and her beloved dog, Bonnie. Survived by her husband, Eugene R. Girard, with whom she celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 22nd; one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanine and David Rock, of Magnolia; one son, Jeffrey W. Girard and Kris Anderson, of Costa Rica; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters, Callen Girard of Costa Rica, and Justin (Candys) Rock and their children, Jasmine and Chelsea, of East Sparta. A Memorial Service will be held Sat., Jan. 10, 2015 at 12 Noon in Magnolia United Methodist Church with Pastor Steven M. Smith officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before the Memorial Service from 11 a.m. – 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doris' memory may be made to Magnolia United Methodist Church, PO Box 417, Magnolia, OH 44643.
