Doris S. Albu Age 95, of Canton, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 13, 2011, in Bethany Nursing Home. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Harve and Hazel (Smith) Schrecongost, and was a life resident. Doris was a 1934 graduate of McKinley High School and a 1942 graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She retired in 1976 from Canton City Schools, after 33 years service, having taught at Belle Stone and Mason Elementary Schools, and also at John J. Audubon Elementary School in Henderson, KY, while her husband was stationed at Camp Breckenridge. Doris was a 60-year member of Calvary Presbyterian Church which she served as an Elder and Clerk of Session, taught children's Bible School, and tutored after school. She also was a member of the Dorcas Sunday school class and a Bible study group. Preceded in death by her husband, Emil N. Albu, on July 26, 1985. Survived by her daughter, Emily Albu and Alan Taylor, of Davis, CA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Pat Albu, of Canton, and James and Rhona Albu, of North Canton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Emily Elisabeth Hanawalt, Benjamin Albu and his wife, Catherine, and their children, Connor, Helen, and Sarah, Amanda Albu, Nicholas Albu, and Alwynn Mellen and her husband, Jeff. Services will be held on Wed. at 11 a.m. in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Interment in Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Albu's memory may be made to the Stark County Humane Society, or the donor's favorite charity.
