IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna L.
Hughes
June 4, 1941 – January 24, 2022
Donna L. Hughes
Donna L. Hughes, 80, of Perry Township, left her earthly body behind due to Alzheimer's on January 24, 2022. She was born in Chillicothe, OH, June 4, 1941, to her loving mother Wanda Butler. Donna and her sister, Renetta "Pug" Borelli, were raised in an Appalachian holler until relocating to East Palestine. This is where Donna met the love of her life, George A. Hughes, who she has been married to for over 64 years, he survives. They raised 4 children together, Randy, who is welcoming mom to Heaven after leaving us too young, Wendy Cole, Georgia Jaeb (Michael), and Marcy Sagstetter (Jeff).
Our mom spent much of her life sacrificing for others, loved Loretta Lynn, was an avid reader, sang many years in her church's and Larry Wilgus's choirs, loved butterflies and was Dad's biggest baseball fan. After her son's death, Mom became active with Compassionate Friends and Survivors, as she wanted to help other parents cope with the loss of a child. She enjoyed her years working at Printz Florist with her best friend, Barb Rusher (like Lucy and Ethel), and then later worked and retired from Sears.
Mom was proud of all of her 8 grand and 6 great-grandchildren and loved them dearly. Preceding her in death besides her son, Randy, is her mother and sister, and Ted Miller. She is also survived by many friends, nieces and nephews, and her favorite, Lori Borelli Massey (Dennis).
The family would like to thank some of the staff at Astoria Nursing Home: Autumn, Jalisia, Charlene and Miss Jay, for loving our mom. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Suite E, Uniontown, OH 44685, to whom we are extremely grateful.
In mom's words, "You can't change the world, but find your little corner and make it better."
Services will be held Sat. at 1 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Ministers Cole Sagstetter and Jeff Sagstetter officiating. Friends may call Sat. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before the service. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
