Donald E. Yates

Age 93, a resident of the Canton Christian Home, passed away there Friday, April 15, 2016.  He was born in Canton, a son of the late Charles and Anna Belle (Hasler) Yates, and was a life resident.  Don was a 1941 graduate of McKinley High School and attended Oregon State University.  He retired in 1985 from The Hoover Co., after over 40 years service, where he was an electrician.  Don was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, McKinley Rifle & Pistol Club, and the NRA.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Amphibious Tractor Battalion #727. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Charles Yates and Doris DeArment, a son-in-law, Arthur Beistel, and a step-mother, Frances Yates.  He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth S. Yates, with whom he celebrated their 73rd Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 10th; two daughters, Donna Beistel and Diana Muhlbach, both of Canton; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Matt (Teresa) Muhlbach and their daughters, Alexandria, Victoria, Christina, and Jennifer, Tracy Beistel (Scott Heckathorn), Erica (Tom) Martin, and Todd (Jennifer) Beistel and their sons, Finnegan and Oliver; two sisters, Charlene (Ronnie) Hunter, of North Canton, and Fran Bowen, of Florida; also several nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor C. David Morgan officiating.  Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.  Friends may call Tuesday 12-1 p.m. before the service.  Contributions in Don's memory may be made to the Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW, Wilmot, OH  44687.
