Donald L. "Donnie" Williams
Age 68, of Canton, passed away suddenly Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2011, in Hillcrest Hospital in Gates Mills. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Donald H. and Vera Ream Williams, and was a life resident. Donnie was a 1961 graduate of McKinley High School where he played on the basketball team that reached the Regional Tournament, and was honored as most improved player on the team. He had been employed by American Rubber Co. in Mayfield Heights where he was Plant Manager. Donnie was honored by induction into the Stark County Fumbleball Hall of Fame in 1994. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and enjoyed golfing, trips to Mountaineer, and his Ohio State Buckeyes. He really enjoyed being with his friends, making them laugh, and living life to the fullest. But most of all, Donnie loved being with his grandchildren and following their accomplishments. Preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Suzanne M. Williams, on Feb. 7, 2007, and two brothers-in-law, Don Ohler and Bob Seemann. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Michael Carpinelli, and his son, Richard Williams, all of Canton; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Alyssa Carpinelli, and Riley and Claire Williams; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nancy Ohler, Susan and Fred Reofli, Pat Seemann, and Charlene and Terry Rundquist, all of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Patricia Williams, of Canton; his special friend, Donna Moran, of Canton; and his beloved dog, Dandy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Witmer as Celebrant. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. There will be no calling hours.
