Donald R. Russ
Age 69, of Magnolia, passed away Sat., June 11, 2016, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Canton, a son of the late Donald H. and Lillian (Bayes) Russ, and had been a Magnolia resident since 1965, coming from Wellston, OH. He was a 1964 graduate of Wellston High School. He retired in 1999 from Republic Steel/Bethlehem Steel in Massillon where he was a lab technician in the Metallurgical Lab. Since coming to Magnolia he also had been farming which he really enjoyed. Don was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau, Clinton Lodge #47 in Massillon, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, and the Sandy Valley Eagles. Don never met a stranger and could top or match any story you had, and was willing to help anyone in need. Survived by his wife, Darlene M. (Ossler) Russ, with whom he would have celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 2nd; one daughter, Christina (Chad) Kugler; one son, Donald R. Russ, Jr. and his fiancée, Rachelle Sturms; five grandchildren, Lillian and Mason Kugler, Donald R. III and Charles Russ, and Hannah Sturms. Also a special niece, Lora Koehler. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with his brother-in-law, Dr. Alex Feng officiating. Friends may call Thursday 4-7 p.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don's memory may be made to the Carroll County Humane Society or Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodland Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708.
