Donald L. Moore,

Age 88, of Canton, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 4, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born December 6, 1936, in Canton, a son of the late Herbert Moore and Leota (Menk) Perry.  Don was a 1955 graduate of Timken High School and served with the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga when it was commissioned.  He retired from the Canton City Fire Department as a Captain after 21 years of service. He loved his job as a firefighter. He then worked for Warner Cable for 28 years.  Don was a longtime member of First Christian Church, the McKinley Eagles, and the McKinley Booster Club. Don never met a stranger. He could fix anything, and helping others was his personal joy. His legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. Preceded in death by his son, Bret Moore.  Survived by his wife, Glenda (Barkey) Moore; one son, Brian (Lori) Moore, one daughter, Brenda (Bill) Robinson; one stepsister, Sandra Adkins; seven grandchildren, Blake (Kristin) Moore, Brandon Moore, Zachary Moore, Rebecca (Devin) Daugherty, and Taylor (Angela) Moore; Hannah Robinson, Julia Robinson, and five great-grandchildren, Miles, Estelle, Maya, Vincent, and Jack.  Services will be held Thur., July 17 at 11am in First Christian church with his son-in-law, Bill Robinson, and Pastor Bradley Clark officiating.  Interment in West Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call Wed. from 5-8 pm and Thur. from 10-11am in First Christian Church, Canton.  Last Alarm Service will be held by the Canton City Fire Department Wed. at 4:45pm in the church.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Christian Church, in memo: Common Goods, by mail at: First Christian Church, 6900 Market Ave. N Canton, OH 44721, or by contacting the church at: (330)456-2600, ext. 2060.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
