Donald R. "Don" Lozier, Age 84, former Mayor of East Sparta, Ohio died on Tues., Jan. 22, 2013 in Sarasota, Florida. Born in Sharpsville, PA, a son of the late Ezra and Martha (Hilke) Lozier, he had been a resident of East Sparta for 50 years. Don was a 1946 graduate of Sharpsville High School and a 1958 graduate of Youngstown State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served with the U.S. Navy, retired from the Timken Company in 1992 after 26 years service where he was a Civil Engineer, and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244, and East Sparta United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sara R. Lozier; their four children Margaret Ellen and Richard Hill, of Sarasota, FL, Daniel R. and Cindy Lozier, of Pensacola, FL, William B. and Laura Lozier, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Theodore R. and Beth Lozier, of Columbus, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sue Lozier; and eleven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. in East Sparta United Methodist Church with Pastor Peggy Garner officiating. Interment in East Sparta Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 4-7 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Friday one hour before the service, from 10-11 a.m. in the church. The pallbearers will be Don's grandsons, Blaine Lozier, Jeremiah Lozier, Joshua Lozier, and Daniel Lozier, along with his nephews Bruce Lozier and Bill Hewitt.
