Denise R. Van Voorhis

Age 58, of Waynesburg, passed away Sat., July 29, 2017, after a long illness, at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born Jan. 14, 1959, in Canton, a daughter of Don and Virginia (Ramage) Van Voorhis of Waynesburg, and was a life resident of this area.  Denise was a 1977 graduate of East Canton High School.  In the past, she enjoyed helping with the young children at Indian Run Christian Church, where she was a member, spending time with family and friends, and keeping touch by computer with pen pals. She also volunteered at The Workshop on Whipple Ave. in Canton.  She was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles "Wib" and Lila Ramage, aunts Maxine Longo, and Barb MacKay, and uncle Jack Longo.  Besides her parents, Denise is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Kathy Van Voorhis, and their children, Caleb, Lydia, and Moriah, Brad and Amy Van Voorhis, and their children, Haley, Sam, and Julia; many cousins, who were very special to her, as well as her uncle, Gordon MacKay.  Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hennis Care Centre, for their loving care.  Services will be held Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with her cousin, Pastor Jeffrey MacKay officiating.  Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, contributions in Denise's memory may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447-4752, www.ataxia.org.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
