IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dean
Scharver
April 30, 1952 – January 15, 2025
Dean Scharver,
72, of Magnolia OH, peacefully passed away at home on January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dean's passion for farming started at a young age and that commitment and dedication continued throughout his life. He started his farming career as a sophomore in high school with a John Deere A and a 3 bottom plow rented on 5 acres of land. Dean's knowledge and strong work ethic were unparalleled as he openly admitted he did his best thinking when on a tractor. He had an incredible knack for being able to "fix" anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone. Dean's warm, infectious smile greeted all he came across and made everyone feel immediately welcomed.
Beyond the fields, Dean was a devoted family man, cherishing time spent with his family and friends. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather who took immense pride and pleasure in witnessing his children and grandchildren experience the simple pleasures of life on a farm. Perhaps the greatest joy in Dean's life was continuing to teach the practices of what is now his legacy, to the younger generations.
He was a man of faith and his relationship with the Lord grew stronger over the years. He confirmed his strengthened beliefs by being water baptized again at Faith Family Church in North Canton at the age of 69.
Dean will be remembered for his gentle spirit, love for his farm and his genuine warmth. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Brian (Sylvia) Scharver and their children, Gavin and Jaiden; daughter, Heather (Kevin) Scharver-Philyaw and their daughter, Lexi; step-children Michele (Tom) Heller and their son, Dale; Melanie (Dave) Thirion, Mike (Jenny) McIntyre, and their son Kole; his sister, Crystal (Tom) James; brother-in-law, Van Wilson; nieces and nephews; and many other family members that loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph "Lefty" and Gloria (Parra) Scharver and sister, Susan Wilson.
A celebration of life will be held on Dean's family farm in the form of a fishing rodeo on Saturday, April 26th. Fishing will start at 9:00 am, followed by a prayer and lunch at noon. The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
