David O. Morckel

age 102, of Magnolia, passed away Sat., Jan.7, 2023.  He was born in Minerva, a son of the late Harry and Maggie (Witten) Morckel, resided in Magnolia since 1995, previously in North Lauderdale, FL 22 years.  David had been a heavy equipment operator for M & M Excavating.  He was a member of East Sparta United Methodist Church and Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta.  David honorably served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Morckel, on Jan. 24, 2021, a grandson, Jonathan Morckel, daughter, Teresa Cufman, son, Charles Morckel, step-son, Monroe Hershberger, and brother, Paul Morckel. David is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David and Pat Morckel,  three step-daughters, Mary Jane Snodgrass, Laura (Phil) Rhoads, and Monica Ellison; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Peggy Garner officiating.  Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery in Oneida, OH with Military Honors.  Friends may call Thursday 5-7 p.m.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
