Coletta I. Wendell
Age 89, of Lake Mohawk, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, in Aultman Hospital. She was born in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late George and Florence (Elson) Welker, resided in Waynesburg most of her life, Venice, FL for 31 years, and Lake Mohawk the last several years. Coletta was a 1942 graduate of Waynesburg High School. She assisted her husband as owners of Wendell Ford Sales, which they founded in March of 1954, and operated until their retirement in 1980. Coletta was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she served as organist over 40 years, Magnolia Grange and achieved all seven Degrees, and Pomona Grange. She played tenor sax in the Jerry White Orchestra in Florida for a number of years, and also played in an orchestra locally in her younger years. Coletta also enjoyed golfing. Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack D. Wendell, on Oct. 5, 2010, and brother, Elson "Spike" Welker. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Jack Knoch, Ronda and Larry Williams, and Daryl and Jeffrey James, all of Magnolia; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Scott (Barb) Knoch and their children, Justin, Ashley, Kinsey, and Braden,of North Canton, Tricia (Louis) Trilli and their son, Alex, of Waynesburg, Kevin (Stephanie) Williams and their children, Joshua, Karissa, and Kaitlyn, of Magnolia, Marc (Jennifer) Williams and their daughters, Amanda and Holly, of Waynesburg, Michael (Katie) Williams, of Littleton, CO, Cindy (Jason) Ziarno and their sons, Austin and Colin, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Kristin (Michael) Caldwell and their children, Anna, Zachary, and Madalyn, of Strongsville, and Keith James, of North Canton. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Centenary United Methodist Church with Pastor Jamie Walters and Pastor Stan Purdum officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Friday 10-11 a.m. at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Coletta's memory may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 6321 Waynesburg Drive SE, Waynesburg, OH 44688.
